Conductor Cloud alternatives

Updated

Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13, 2026 and shuts down on November 20. Where to run your coding agents next (Cloudroom, AQ, Aether, Claude Code on the web, Codex Cloud, Cursor Cloud Agents, Paradev, Emdash or Orca with a machine of your own, your own VM and tmux, or a Prized box), with when each fits, from each vendor's own pages, checked November 4, 2026.

Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13, 2026: you can still read old chats and export data, but you can't send new messages. It shuts down on November 20, when Conductor begins deleting Cloud data, and the local Mac app gets new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027 (Conductor's notice). Conductor says it will have something new to use early next year, and names no replacement for Cloud until then. Save your cloud work first (Moving from Conductor Cloud, step 1), then pick where the agents go.

Pick one

  • Your own Claude Code, Codex or Cursor CLI, a git worktree each, on a cloud machine that keeps its disk: a Prized box. The agents run in tmux on the box with no maximum run time and keep working with your laptop closed. Your Cloud Computer's repos, setup script and env vars become an environment, files sync both ways, and ports 3000 to 9999 open on your localhost (Moving from Conductor Cloud). What it lacks: shared chats or multiplayer presence, a phone app (the box's terminal opens in a phone browser), and an app of its own to run agents from; you work in a terminal or your editor over SSH, or point an app such as Orca at the box.
  • One desktop app for agents on your computer or in its cloud: Cloudroom. For macOS, Windows and Linux; cloud threads keep working with your Mac off and run 10 agents, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode among them, on your own provider accounts. A web app shows them on your phone. Free with 3,000 Cloud Credits a month; Pro is $50 a month. Open source (Apache-2.0).
  • A web app with one VM for your team, in your own cloud account or one AQ manages, and a worktree per task: AQ. Closing your laptop does not stop the agent, and on Pro teammates can open the same live terminal to watch or steer it. It runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and others on accounts you connect. Its Import from Conductor brings each local Conductor workspace in as a work item on its branch, with its Claude Code and Codex chats, and proposes its Conductor scripts; uncommitted changes and gitignored files stay behind, and Cloud workspaces need Transfer to local first. A personal sandbox that sleeps when idle is free; Pro is $50 per user a month at its early-access price.
  • A fresh Firecracker microVM per task, from the web, a CLI or a phone app: Aether. Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode run on your own provider account, and Aether bills only the machine; a devbox is destroyed when its pull request merges or closes, or after 48 hours of inactivity. 20 free credits a month (about 4 hours on its Small devbox), then plans from $30 a month.
  • Anthropic's VM per session, on your Claude plan: Claude Code on the web. Start from claude.ai/code, the Claude app on your phone, the desktop app or claude --cloud. Each session runs in an isolated VM Anthropic manages and keeps running after you close your laptop, with no separate charge for the VM. Cloning and pull requests need GitHub.
  • OpenAI's VM per task, on your ChatGPT plan: Codex Cloud. Start from the web, the desktop app or iOS; each task gets its own VM from an environment you publish, and work continues while your computer is asleep. GitHub only.
  • Cursor's agent on Cursor's VMs: Cursor Cloud Agents. Start them from cursor.com/agents, the desktop app, the iOS app, Slack, Linear or the API, as many at once as you like, from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket Cloud or Azure DevOps; they don't need your machine online.
  • A desktop app that imports your local Conductor worktrees, with workspaces on your Mac, a host you add or its cloud: Paradev, formerly Superset. Its workspaces run on your Mac, on any macOS or Linux host you add through Remote Access, or in its cloud workspaces (beta). On a host you add or in a cloud workspace they keep running when your laptop sleeps; on your Mac they pause while it sleeps. It runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and other CLI agents with your own keys, and has an iPhone and iPad app; it cannot import Conductor chats. Free for local workspaces; Pro, at $20 per user a month, adds remote access, and cloud workspaces come with Team, at $60 per user a month, and Ultra. Open source (MIT).
  • A free, open-source app for parallel agents, with the agents on a machine you bring: Emdash or Orca. Both run on macOS, Windows and Linux and work with Claude Code, Codex and many other agent CLIs on your own subscriptions. Orca opens your local Conductor worktrees in place. To keep agents working with the laptop closed, run them on a machine that stays on: Emdash on a remote machine over SSH, with tmux on, Orca on an SSH host or an Orca server you run. With a Prized box as Orca's SSH host, its worktrees and agents live on the box (Run Orca's agents on a Prized box).
  • Full control and nothing new to learn: your own VM and tmux. Rent a Linux VM from any cloud, install the agents, and run each in a tmux session over SSH; the machine's setup, security, ports and upkeep are yours.

Moving to Prized

  1. Save your work before November 13: push each cloud workspace's branch, or right-click it in the Mac app and choose Transfer to local; Settings → Account → Export data downloads the rest (Moving from Conductor Cloud).
  2. Get a box: sign up at prized.dev; the tour starts a box on $30 of free credit, with no card (Quickstart).
  3. Start an agent per task: prized setup . --clone in your repo puts it on the box; then each task gets a git worktree add and its own agent session, such as prized agents run claude --session claude-auth --dir code/myproject-auth (Moving from Conductor Cloud).

Common questions

When does Conductor Cloud shut down?

Cloud workspaces go read-only on November 13, 2026, and active subscribers get a refund. Cloud shuts down on November 20, when Conductor begins deleting Cloud user data, so export before then. The local Mac app gets new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027.

What is the closest thing to Conductor Cloud?

For another app with machines in the cloud: Cloudroom, Aether or Paradev's cloud workspaces (a machine per agent or task), or AQ (one VM for your team, a worktree per task). To bring your local Conductor worktrees into a new app: AQ, which brings their Claude Code and Codex chats too, Paradev, or Orca, which opens them in place. For your own Claude Code or Codex on one cloud machine that stays on, a git worktree each, as in Conductor: a Prized box.

Can I bring my Conductor chats?

Keep Conductor's export: Settings → Account → Export data. AQ's importer carries the Claude Code and Codex chats from each local Conductor workspace (transfer Cloud workspaces to local first). Paradev says it can't import Conductor chats, and they don't carry over to Prized; put what an agent should know in a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md in the repo.

Which alternatives have a phone app?

Aether (iOS and Android), Paradev (iPhone and iPad), Cursor (iOS), Codex (iOS), Claude Code (the Claude app), and, in beta, AQ (iPhone) and Orca (iOS and Android). Cloudroom has a web app for your phone. Prized has no phone app: open the box's terminal in your phone's browser, or use Claude Code's Remote Control (From your phone).

Can my team share agents, as with Conductor's Multiplayer?

On AQ's Pro plan, teammates can open the same live terminal to watch or steer it, typing once its owner approves. Cloudroom has organizations and shares threads as read-only links. On Prized, the members of a workspace can open any box in it, its terminal included, and Activity lists each box's sessions and last prompt; there are no shared chats with presence.
