Use Claude Code and Codex from your phone
Updated
Run Claude Code or Codex on a box that stays on and drive it from your phone's browser, with no SSH app or VPN: start the agent, open it on the phone, keep it working while the phone sleeps, preview your app, and how it compares with Tailscale, Termius and tmux.
On this page8
Your phone is the screen: Claude Code or Codex runs on a machine that stays on, so the work goes on when you lock the phone or close your laptop. On Prized that machine is a box, a Linux machine in the cloud with both agents preinstalled, and its browser terminal is built for a phone.
1. Get a box
Sign up: the tour starts a box on $30 of free credit, with no card, and gives you the command that installs the CLI on your computer (Quickstart).
Signed up on your phone? Start in your browser on the tour's install step opens the box's terminal with Claude Code started, ready to sign in; no computer needed.
2. Start the agent on the box
On your computer, in your project folder:
prized setup --sync --agent claudeSetup syncs the folder with ~/code/<folder> on the box, signs Claude Code in there with your sign-in, and starts it in a tmux session named claude. For Codex, use --agent codex; the box gets its own ChatGPT sign-in (Run Codex in the cloud).
No computer? In the box's Claude Code session, /exit leaves you at a shell: gh auth login, then gh repo clone OWNER/REPO, puts your code on the box (the GitHub CLI is preinstalled). cd into it and run claude; for Codex, run codex login --device-auth first (device code sign-in has to be on in ChatGPT's security settings), then codex.
3. Open it on your phone
Open the box on the dashboard and pick Claude Code or Codex from the arrow beside Open terminal. The browser terminal opens in the agent's session (claude or codex), and starts the agent there if nothing runs in it (Terminal). Next time the button itself reads Open in Claude Code, one tap away.
- Typing: tap Claude Code's prompt to bring the keyboard up. The row under the terminal has the keyboard key, Esc, Tab, Ctrl, ^C and the arrows; Ctrl applies to the next key you type.
- Taps: a tap is a click, in Claude Code and on links too, and a drag scrolls.
- tmux windows: each one has a chip above the terminal; tap it to switch, with no
ctrl+bto type. - Several agents: run
prized herdronce from your computer, then pick herdr at the top right of the terminal and start each agent in a tab of its own: Ctrl on the key row, then b and c, opens one forclaudeorcodex. Its sidebar, a bar at the top on a phone, shows which agent is working, waiting on you, or done, and a toast shows when one finishes or needs you; sessions in tmux stay in tmux (herdr).
4. Keep it working while your phone sleeps
The agent runs in tmux on the box, so locking the phone or closing the tab ends only the connection. If the terminal says it is disconnected when you come back, tap Reconnect: the session is where you left it.
On the free credit, a box pauses after 2 hours with nothing using it (Auto-pause). An agent printing in its session counts as use, but a long wait for your answer can still pause the box. To keep it up, set Auto-pause to Off on the box's page, or from your computer; the box then bills while idle too:
prized box auto-pause mango offUse your box's name in place of mango. Opening the terminal wakes a paused box, and on a Nano through Small box the agent picks up where it was (Pause and resume).
Preview your app on your phone
prized ports share 3000With your dev server running on the box, this gives port 3000 a link you open in your phone's browser, signed in to Prized; websockets and hot reload work. From the phone, tap the port in the box page's Ports row, then Share with workspace (Share a port).
Remote Control and the ChatGPT app
- Claude app: type
/remote-controlin the box's Claude Code session to follow and steer it from the app, and turn on push notifications in/config. It needs a Claude subscription sign-in, not an API key or asetup-tokentoken (Keep Claude Code running). - ChatGPT app: add the box as an SSH host with a phone password from the box's Settings, and start Codex chats on it with no computer awake (Codex remote).
- Happy: Run Happy Agent on a Prized box to drive Claude Code and Codex from Happy's phone app.
What works and what doesn't
- Works: prompting, answering and approving, reading diffs and test output, git and
ghfor pull requests, and your dev server through a share link. - iOS apps: a box runs Ubuntu Linux, so Xcode, the iOS Simulator and iOS builds need a Mac. The agent can write the code on the box, and sync brings it to your Mac to build.
- A locked phone: the browser terminal shows herdr's toasts only while it is open. For a push when Claude Code needs you, use the Claude app's Remote Control.
Compared with Tailscale, Termius and tmux
A common setup is a Mac mini or a VPS that stays on, Tailscale to reach it, Termius on the phone, and tmux so sessions outlive the connection. It works; the differences are upkeep and the phone screen.
| Tailscale, Termius and tmux | A Prized box | |
|---|---|---|
| The machine | Yours to keep on, reachable and updated | In the cloud; it can sleep when idle and wakes when you open it |
| On the phone | An SSH app and the Tailscale app | A browser signed in to Prized |
| Switching agents | tmux keys typed on the phone keyboard | The Open terminal menu, a window chip, or herdr's sidebar |
| A dev server | The machine's Tailscale address, with the server listening on more than localhost | A share link |
| Your laptop's copy | git push and pull, or a sync tool you set up | Synced both ways (Sync) |
