# Overview

> Cloud machines for coding agents: a dedicated Linux box that stays on and works like your own machine, so Claude Code, Codex and your dev servers keep running with the laptop closed.

URL: https://prized.dev/docs

## How it works [#how-it-works]

You edit and run everything on the box over SSH. Three things tie it to your laptop:

* **Sync.** A folder on your machine mirrors `~/code/<name>` on the box, both ways, .git included.
* **Ports.** A dev server on the box shows up on your laptop's localhost within seconds.
* **Sessions.** Your shell runs in tmux on the box, so a dropped connection stops nothing that is running.

## The pieces [#the-pieces]

| Piece | What it is |
| --- | --- |
| `prized` | The CLI on your laptop (macOS, Linux, or Windows). |
| `prizedd` | A background daemon on your machine: runs sync and mirrors box ports onto localhost. |
| `prized-agent` | A service on the box: finds listening ports, reports vitals, lists tmux sessions. |
| Dashboard | [prized.dev](https://prized.dev/dashboard): create boxes, watch their state, manage billing. Every screen is on [Dashboard](https://prized.dev/docs/dashboard). |

## Sandboxes [#sandboxes]

For machines your code makes and throws away, [Sandboxes](https://prized.dev/docs/sandboxes) (beta) are microVMs created through the API or the CLI: they boot from a template, bill by the second, and fork into many live copies.

Not sure which you need? [Boxes or Sandboxes?](https://prized.dev/docs/sandboxes-or-boxes) compares them.

## What's on the box [#whats-on-the-box]

Ubuntu with root, plus Docker (compose and buildx), git, tmux, mosh, ripgrep, jq, the GitHub CLI, Claude Code, and Codex; Cursor's CLI installs on demand. Sizes, disks, and the full list are on [Machines](https://prized.dev/docs/machines). `prized setup` hands your Claude Code sign-in over from your machine; Codex with a ChatGPT sign-in, and Cursor, sign in once on the box ([Credentials](https://prized.dev/docs/credentials)).

## For agents [#for-agents]

Every page is also plain Markdown: add `.md` to its URL ([/docs.md](https://prized.dev/docs.md)), or request the page with `Accept: text/markdown`. **Copy page**, at the top right of every page, copies it as Markdown; its menu opens the page in ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor.

* **Index.** [/llms.txt](https://prized.dev/llms.txt) lists every page with a one-line summary, in this order.
* **Everything.** [/llms-full.txt](https://prized.dev/llms-full.txt) is the whole set in one file, several hundred KB: more than many fetch tools read at once, so an agent does better with the index and single pages.
* **Search.** `GET /api/search?query=<words>` returns JSON hits, each with the page URL and the matching heading or paragraph.
* **Setup.** To let an agent install and set Prized up for you, paste the prompt on [Agent setup](https://prized.dev/docs/agent-setup). Claude Code and Codex each have a short prompt on [/claude-code](https://prized.dev/claude-code) and [/codex](https://prized.dev/codex); the agent follows [/claude-code.md](https://prized.dev/claude-code.md) or [/codex.md](https://prized.dev/codex.md).
* **Sign-up.** `prized.dev/auth.md` is the contract an agent follows to make a new account with your email address and an emailed code, and get an API key ([Agent sign-in](https://prized.dev/docs/agent-sign-in)).
* **Prices.** [/pricing.md](https://prized.dev/pricing.md) is every size and rate from the live catalog. The home page and `/pricing` answer `Accept: text/markdown` too, with the index and `/pricing.md`.
* **APIs.** `/.well-known/api-catalog` (RFC 9727) lists the API with its docs, health check, and sign-in metadata. The home page's `Link` header points to it, the docs, and the index.

An agent asked to run something in a sandbox starts at [Agent quickstart](https://prized.dev/docs/sandboxes-agent-quickstart): every call from a key to a fork, ready to paste.
