# Run Happy Agent on a Prized box

> Put Happy Agent on a Prized box as a remote server, so the Claude Code and Codex sessions you drive from Happy Desktop or your phone keep running while your laptop sleeps.

[Happy](https://happy.engineering) can run its agent on any Linux server with systemd that you can SSH into with sudo ([Happy's guide](https://happy.engineering/guides/remote-server/)). A Prized box is one: Ubuntu 24.04, with passwordless `sudo`.

## 1. Start a box [#1-start-a-box]

```bash
npx prized
```

It signs you up, starts a box, and adds it to your SSH config ([Quickstart](https://prized.dev/docs/quickstart)). Use your box's name in place of `mango` (`prized box ls` lists them), and check that plain ssh reaches it:

```bash
ssh mango echo ok
# ok
```

## 2. Keep the box awake [#2-keep-the-box-awake]

Happy Agent waiting for your phone counts as idle, so on the free credit the box pauses after 2 hours idle (never in its first 24 hours), and Happy can't wake it. Switch auto-pause off for this box, or set a longer window such as `7d` ([Auto-pause](https://prized.dev/docs/boxes#auto-pause)):

```bash
prized box auto-pause mango off
```

If it paused anyway, `prized box resume mango --wait` wakes it, and the Happy Agent service comes back with the box.

## 3. Ask Happy to install it [#3-ask-happy-to-install-it]

In Happy Desktop, ask the Chief of Staff:

```text title="Prompt"
Put Happy Agent on my server mango. Call it mango.
```

It installs Happy Agent over `ssh mango` as a system service and asks for your model sign-ins. Approve the AppArmor allowance it asks for: boxes keep Ubuntu 24.04's restriction on user namespaces ([Machines](https://prized.dev/docs/machines#operating-system)), and Happy's sandbox needs the grant to start. To drive it from your phone, ask the Chief of Staff to pair your phone ([Mobile Access](https://github.com/slopus/happy-agent/blob/main/docs/recipe/mobile-access.md)).
